Description

Original framed pastel 20" x 25" on board by Anthony Henderson Euwer (1877 - 1955) titled "The Big Burn ". A painter and illustrator, Anthony Henderson Euwer was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. He studied at Princeton University and the Art Students League in New York, and from 1911 to 1931 lived in Portland, Oregon, where was an illustrator for the "Spectator" and "Oregon Journal". Subsequently he traveled to the Orient where he was infuenced by Japanese art as well as the work of Aubrey Beardsley. In the late 1930s, he settled in Hollywood, California. He died in La Jolla on November 14, 1955.
